Magic Academy

Firia’s father worked nights but that didn’t mattered to her; it was the perfect opportunity for her to hang around the dark corridors for the Arcane Academy, a place which few humans had gone. Besides, at nights she didn’t had to meet the high elves. She went around to see the buildings and learn about them but she always went back to the same place: The Grand Library. The place in which she had spent her childhood reading tomes of spells and secrets. But as she learned more, she longed for more and more and because of that besides reading she practiced spells. Until one day she finds a hidden black book which she studied in detail before casting her first ritual. This spell was going to help her achieve her grand goal: to enter to the Academy, to make the elves notice a human. She was a human. Later on, in the library’s study room she finds herself in front of a monstrous being, the one she had summoned- a being called Varuj. He knows she wants to be a powerful sorceress and he will do anything to help her.

“He grinned unevenly at her. “Does it bother you, little human? He took hold of that massive length, gripped it in his hand and began to stroke it-actually stroke it!-right in front of her. He stared down at her petite form, mouth hanging open, fangs on display as he tongued his lower lip.”

My thoughts:

Just WOW, I have read other stories from them but I really have to say this book is my favorite so far. I can’t really wait to read the others book that will hopefully come. This story, besides having a lot of fantasy, has sweet erotica scenes and I really love the characters. I really liked Varuj since I started reading about him- there’s something about him that captures you, his maneuver, how he knows everyhting and simply because he’s the perfect package: hot and intelligent. But of course I didn’t liked what he did with someone. Firia well she’s nice and again I like that she’s really intelligent but for me she’s not my favorite, but if it wasn’t for her we wouldn’t have smexy scenes.  Then there’s Mae’lin; he’s the first one to have ever talk to her (he’s an elven) and I really have to say that even if I love Varuj he’s really is competition for the hot demon. Mae’lin’s not only sweet and intelligent, he is a great fighter and he’s really nice and a good friend. What happened with him at the end (read the book!) was really shocking and that’s the main reason of why I want to continue reading this story. Mae’lin started to grow on me and I hope to see him more… I think the authors are having little issues if to leave her with Varuj or with Mae’lin- I really want to know what happens and this is the first time I have ever wondered with whom she will stay. The school is awesome, I love that they had to learn a new language and their final examination was pretty neat. Overall such a really good, I loved it and I want more of it. This authors are really getting better if they aren’t already. Thank you so much for the ARC.

Review: The Warlord’s Concubine
       By: J.E. & M. Keep

My review:

“Mirella often wonders what her life would’ve been like had she been born a princess, rather than the property of one.”

All starts when the beautiful city of Ariste is very illuminated… by the fire and war going in the city because of the invasion of the northern’s; consuming everything that meant something for the elegant princess Anabelle Flair. While Anabelle was with her handmaiden; Mirella; in the height of the palace that took place in the slope of the Ariste Mountain, she asked Mirella where will they go, the only thoughts that crossed Mirella’s were: to reason and sorrunder to them or she could throw herself from the window- only death awaiting her. Then, two barbarians of the northern entered the courts of Ariste ready to take the both of them, and when the two of them thought everything was going to be lost, it came a tall, dark figure, bigger and taller than the other two; he was very dark and smooth… and while he was looking at them the princess started to talk and he decided that the princess was to be his new concubine, but even as he said this his eyes were locked on Mirella’s eyes. Mirella had never felt like this before, such a desire to be a concubine- and even if the northerns feared their lord, she certainly didn’t and she let him know it.

Later on, their desire and love started to grow. Mirella, now his principal concubine, did everything he asked her. She adored the God-King and wanted to please him in everything he so desired. He choosed her to be his new favorite and even choosed her to breed him an heir.Mirella has never felt like this before; it felt right and she couldn’t feel more happy than to give birth to a child of his.

When the story continues Mirella gets to know the God-King’s mother: called the Seer of the Ka’reem (people of the northern place) a woman of long white hair, without color in her skin nor eyes- she was blind; she had great powers. When the seer came it was because in those following days a war was going to take place and the God-King, called Kulav, had to go away. But that wasn’t the only reason- it was because she wanted to be close to Mirella; and now because Mirella has Kulav’s blood in her she can be a witch of the coven. Kulav’s not very happy by this as he has seen how his mother has gone because of all the magic and power she has in her- that she shouldn’t, in which she has gone mad. When the God-King leaves for battle, the Seer has another vision and is that her son will have victory, but also death… and by that all the women; including Mirella; started to chant to help their great God-King win… and so they did, other paying more than others but at least Mirella’s baby was going to be all right. The Seer was the one that choosed Mirella for her son- she knew Mirella would do anything for him and she did.
The Warlord's Concubine
This is the story of how Mirella felt in love with a God-King and how she served him, showing everyone that she was more capable of what they thought.

My thoughts:

Thank you so much to the authors for giving me an ARC of this book. It was a such a wonderful read… I loved how the story had those changes I never thought of. Let’s be real, I never thought this story would have magic in it, nor many hot-wonderful scenes of love in them. I totally recommend this to anyone that wants to read an erotica book with wonderful descriptions of the places and people and romance/sex in them.

Review: Peregrine Harker and The Black Death
By: Luke Hollands

Description by Netgalley:

MURDER SPIES EXPLOSIONS REVENGE

Peregrine Harker is about to learn you’re never too young to die.

London 1908: A secret society stalks the murky streets, a deadly assassin lurks in the shadows and a series of unexplained deaths are linked by a mystery symbol…

My review:

Is 1908- London, Paris and India. There’s a terrible problem: the cost for tea is raising. Then, there’s Peregrine Harker, a fifteen-years-old young boy, orphan, living his life dreaming in being a wonderful spy in his dreams while in reality he’s about to lose his job as being a journalist. Jabez Challock, the editor, tells Peregrine that he has only two weeks to find out why the price of tea is raising, as this may cause a terrible problem for the day-to-day of every english man if they don’t have a cup of tea. Young Peregrine starts his search by visiting the tea trader Clayton, but everything turns upside down when he sees a coffin. Trying to see what’s inside of it, he almost gets killed by two men but is saved by no other than his cousin-brother, Archie Dearlove. Later on, while he was with Archie, the two of them see the scene of a man dying in front of everyone while they were eating- when they decided to try and capture the man that Peregrine thought that killed them, he took a paper from the dead’s man hand that consisted of a triangle inside of a circle inside of a square…Then, he tries to talk to a man that wanted to help him, only to find him dead with the same paper and symbol. The Black Death symbol; haunting both Peregrine and Sir Magnus Clayton, they have to stop the one behind all that before they are both dead. But, there are some secrets the young Peregrine didn’t thought of knowing, nor the young and beautiful daughter of Sir Magnus, Louisa. This is the beginning of a young adventurer.

Who is Peregrine Harker?

-He is a young boy of fifteen years old. Both his parents went missing while exploring the Orinoco River in South America. He went to different boarding schools; then went to live for a while with his cousin Archie, and before they took him back to a boarding school he run away to London, in where he lived in a small apartment in Soho and worked as a journalist.
-Skills: Fencing, pistol marksmanship, horse riding, fast thinking.
-I think he’s skinny (for the moment) and with long hair.

Archie Dearlove:(may contain spoilers)

-Is the son of Sir Oliphant Dearlove ( he was the captain in the Royal Navy).
-He may be five years older than Peregrine; being twenty years old. He had a beamin smile and piercing eyes.
-At first we were told that he was Lieutenant Archie Dearlove of His Majesty’s Royal Navy; but later on he tells Peregrine the truth- he works for the Naval Intelligence, being a spy.
-Skills: Fencing, pistol marksmanship, horse riding, fast thinking, good at keeping secrets, good at making plans.
-He was truly a good friend.

Ignatius Woolfe:

-Works as a: butler.
-Appearance: Short, tough, with a condescending face, hawk-like nose.
-Skills: Pistol marksmanship, Riding (vehicles, motors or anything new), very intelligent, fast, fast thinking.

Sir Magnus Clayton:

-He was the owner of the Indus Star Importation Company.
-Appearance: Dark hair, face of kindness.
-Skills: Pistol Marksmanship, Riding, very intelligent, maker of weapons (such as guns).

SPOILER:

Why was the price of tea rising?

-Because, after all, Sir Magnus Clayton, being the villain of this story, was trying to import the last of his gold from India. He had a brother named Richard Clayton (the two of them killed each other), the two of them were poor, so they decided to enlist in the army. While Richard followed his duty, Magnus always wanted fortune and glory. When the two of them went in duty for India they felt in love with the most beautiful girl in Northen India, named Kitty Blackmore. Richard, married and had a daughter with her and when his brother Magnus found out he planned to make a revenge making a pact with Sanghar Khan. Sangar Khan, being an orphan he was taken by the religious band ( or cult) called The Brotherhood of the Black Death. They worshipped the Hindu deity Kali, the god of death and destruction, which made them experts and specialist in lethal poisons and razor-sharp blades. When Magnus went to get revenge the end was that Kitty was killed, he took their child, and almost killed Richard; which he came back to kill them all.

 My thoughts:

It was a pretty good book, but, it was slow-paced… which I don’t like that much. Also, all the names of the places they went were confusing. There’s also the question of if there’s going to be another adventure and if we will ever know what happened with Peregrine’s parents. But overall it was a pretty good twist in the end. Thanks NETGALLEY for the book!

Review: Demonic Dora (The Demon Diaries book #`1)
by: Claire Chilton

Not even in hell she is welcome. Meet Dora Carridine, the daughter of Theodore Carridine- a reverend, and her mother, Josie Carridine an ex-pole dancing. Dora has tried every sin she is capable of just to annoy her parents, but for some time she has been practicing dark magic- to summon a demon lord. Her first command if she ever gets a demon lord? Make her room red from the pink-princess room her parents choosed for her.  She decides to try again to summon a demon, but not just a demon- a high-level one. Dora places several black candles (making a circle with them), an ornate pottery bowl with a mixture of herbs, five drops of her blood and a Karabashi bloodstone. Just when she thought this was another failure, she’s being called a witch, with a hot blond demon and everyone wants her to burn.

She’s 5’8, wiht long legs, black hair; and has a really shiny soul, meaning she’s more good than evil. She then (in evil form) had powerful wings.

2. Kieron-> Kieron Derek Lascher is a demon lord, high-level. His ability is magic. He has high cheekbones, strong jawline, tanned skin, broad shoulders, great butt, abs, blond hair and blue eyes. He’s very brave, intelligent, overreacting, silly, cute, even strong. There’s something at the end of the book which can change what he is ( he then, has white and black wings.

3. Lord Lascher-> Lionel; Kieron’s father. Demon form: Color: black, body with veiny muscles, long fingers, sharp talons, scaly wings and deep voice. Normal form: middle-aed man with slicked black hair and dark blue eyes. He’s very powerful, bussiness man, traitor, he likes to tempt, and very silly when it comes to be with his wife.

4. Lady Lascher-> Anika; Kieron’s mother. Normal form: She’s a petit brunette with wazy hair and wears a sixties style dress. Very powerful (perhaps more than Lionel?), a pain the butt and very, very annoying.

5. Pooey-> He is a small, brown colored demon with straggly fur, a squashed face and it was limply. Very grumpy and intelligent; has ninja skills and self-esteem issues. He can transform in a six-foot tall teddy with wicked claws and abs. Complete name: Personious Caelius.

Notes:

  • Lord Lascher, Kieron and Dora had the chance to ride the big, red dragon of the famous The Sky Huntress. There are different flyers but are under her command. Sky Huntress wore flying goggles, had long, blond hair and had a shapely figure.
  • Kieron’s grandmother comes from under Hell, beneath the lava lakes. Is the level of Hell that is full of sexual deviants. She’s about ten-foot, blond amazon with curves and she looked like she had twenty five; wears a red leather underwear. Very nice and funny. His grandfather is 5’5 and slightly bald; wears black leather pants and a dog collar; his name is Hickory Lascher and his the Headmaster of Daemon Academia.
  • Lascher’s house: Is a vast castle on a hill at the side of the highway, with black pointy spires, with carvings of demons in every ledge, and in the entrance was the open mouth of a demonic creature with sharp teeth.
  • Professor Kazaik-> He is tall and pale, with long black hair. He was the highest warlock in the level. He was a first class professor of power; which meant he was the most powerful demon in the school.

Review: Rogue Hunter: Inquest (Volume 1)
        by: Kevis Hendrickson

My Review:
The life of a bounty hunter is never easy: they aren’t accepted anywhere and they have to kill- for money. But the life of bounty hunter Zyra Zanr is even worst than that of the others: if she doesn’t bring back the terrorist Boris Skringler “Widow Maker” that’s being accused of killinf three hundred and twenty-two passengers on a deep space transport, her life will be the pay; besides having a history with this criminal that was the man that made what she is of now, she’s in love with a Venus woman named Mikaela from New Venus world- a world which once was ruled by mens and when the fight came now womens are the ruler and the only living things in that world; they even invented new forms of having a child, but those childs will only be girls. Zyra Zanr life is about to change when she asks Queen Karah Taresh for the release of Skringler to transfer him to where he belongs, to receive the punishment from his own place: from the InterGalactic Alliance; but when the Queen refuses to do so because of her stubbornness she decides to make a plan to take him and get out to get the money she needs to finally have a life- to stop killing. But everything gets out of hands when she’s mistaken by a spy, and now not only does he is valuable because her life and money is at risk but because when war starts he is the only thing that can save New Venus. If she comes alive.

My opinion:

Rogue Hunter: Inquest

Such and amazing book! (again haha) I really have to say thanks to Kevis for all the stories he has created but also because I don’t usually read sci-fiction, besides the fact that I have never read Space Opera. So thanks for giving me a new world.

Also, the thing about New Venus (all of it) was a brilliant idea! and I do believe they are very strong. Not because I am a woman but because they are strong.

Can’t wait to know what really happened with her father, about her mother and about the ending (not telling!) and about Mika. Because Mika and Zyra being a couple was very sweet and a strong love.

You really have to read this. READ IT!

 5/5!

My thoughts: (SPOILER ALERT!)

Such a wonderful story; I loved Kiera and the Prince. This story showed me how thought life really is; about hunger, being poor, how rich people spend their money in useless things, cruelty; but also about loyalty and love. I have to say that I adored Prince Keegan since I “met” him. He observed and choosed depending on what he really saw, not only the surface; and I know he felt in love with her at “first” glance and he was truly a gentleman. Can’t wait to see what happens next! this really was such a good adventure story and really, I enjoyed the love parts. Thanks to the author for giving me her book to read it and write a review which I am so HAPPY to do so!

Review: The Tale of Liril
                      by: Kevis Hendrickson

The Tale of LirilMy review:

Young and immature girl named Liril; and also poor; was one day out in the garden doing the chores of the day, when she thought what to get to her papa as it was coming his birthday. She wanted to give him something special, but as she only had one silver coin- besides the fact that her mama didn’t wanted her to spent money on a item- she escaped and went alone to the market.

In there she realizes she really doesn’t have anything at all and starts to weep, but an old lady makes her to go on a journey in search of a locket- a locket that will teach her a lesson.

My thoughts:

Another great short story by Kevis; I love to read stories that has something from the classic books and magical.
